Cawood Laboratories commenced operations in March 2002. We provide a comprehensive suite of sampling, sample preparation, and chemical analysis and/ or physical testing analytical services.

The laboratory is active in the Port of Saldanha from sampling through to final chemical analyses for imports and exports of commodities/ cargos.

Typical sampling and analyses for clients include, iron and manganese ores, copper, zinc and lead concentrates, coal and anthracite etc.

The main analytical laboratory is located 4km from the West Coast Mall, Vredenburg. The laboratory is equipped to perform representative reduction of samples, sample preparation for analytical techniques, such as X-RAY Fluorescence Spectrometry analysis, wet chemical and titrimetric analysis, potentiometric titrations, loss/gain on ignition etc.

We strive to regularly expand our scope of accreditation and services according to customer needs.

Our Laboratory focus is on ISO17025 accredited methods. Our culture is to provide in depth staff training, quality control. Assurance monitoring forms part of this. Staff include experienced chemists who have been part of the laboratory since its start-up in 2002.
